Naturopathic Colonic Hydrotherapy

There are many people with pre-conceived notions about Colonics (aka colon hydrotherapy) and imagine the worse, whereas it is in fact a colonic treatment that leaves you feeling revitalised, clean and light on your feet.  Colonics exercises and tones the bowel thus aiding the evacuation of waste both during and after the treatment. Your toxic load in your body is reduced.

Naturopathic Colon Hydrotherapy is unique in that after the colonic many different vitamins, minerals, and supplements are introduced into the rectum to restore bowel health and enhance liver detoxification. For patients with parasites, candida and an overgrowth of harmful bacteria, ozonated water or gas will be introduced into the rectum following the colonic treatment. Some patients will also recieve glutamine, msm, aloe, magnesium, mineral complex, glutathione, taurine, Vitamin C, B complex and B12.

Indications:

 
The benefits of colonic irrigation can often be quickly observed. Many patients experience improved bowel function, clearer skin, mental clarity and fewer headaches. Circulatory, immune, inflammatory and weight problems can also improve with colonic treatments. After the treatment, the bowel is better able to absorb nutrients and less likely to absorb enterotoxins.

Treatment

 There is no special preparation necessary before your colonic treatment.

 We expect you to be nervous on your first visit. But we will put you at ease by explaining the procedure in great depth as well as covering your body with towels and blankets so that you don’t feel exposed. Each patient will be supplied disposable shorts. There will be a small hole that will be cut in the shorts to expose the retal opening. This will ensure that you will feel covered and secure during the treatment.

 About 60 liters of filtered water are used per treatment, but only a small amount are allowed to enter the bowel at any one time. This acts to stimulate peristalsis to evacuate the large intestine. The water pressure is carefully controlled and is in fact lower than is normally generated during a bowel movement.

 Water is fed into your lower bowel while you are lying on your left side. Then after 10 minutes you will be asked to turn onto your back. A gentle massage on you abdomen will then be performed assisting the elimination of waste and gas pockets.  Probiotics will then be infused after the treatment.

Some patients will require the infusion of Ozone and supplements after the treatment. This will vary on a case by case basis.

 In all, it will take about 30-45 min.

How many treatments are necessary?

This depends on the individual. On average 1 treatment per week for 4-6 weeks is necessary to achieve your goal. With our machine we can clean the colon with much less treatments that is usually required. Most patients require 2-6 treatments to thoroughly clean the entire colon. 

Is it safe?

 YES. The water is administered at low pressure so there is no danger of perforation. All equipment is disposable and the machine is sterilised using hospital approved sterilants. There is virtually no risk of cross infection. 

How much does it cost?

Each 45 min colonic session is $90. If you have Extended Medical Insurance from your employer you may have coverage under Naturopathic Physician. 

For more complicated cases, such as IBS or candida, supplements, additional probiotics, and vitamins/minerals are implanted into the colon after the colonic. This will be an additional cost.
